Mosquitoes arghhhh...
Has anyone got a remedy, fishing at moment
And getting.eaten alive, zipped on mesh on front of bivvy and twatted the Fuckers. Inner bivvy resembles a csi murder scene with half my claret smeared on bivvy from.squashed mozzies.
Anyways tried deet stuff, citronella, mozcoils, etc.
Won't try knob wiping as I fear this maybe what's attracting them..
Anyone????

Fucking hell, Stuart Downing has got more bollocks than some of you lot.

I rarely get bitten, someone once said that they don't like the taste of Marmite in the blood, and I eat it by jar load.

How do they know you have marmite in your blood before they bite you?

I would agree with the suggestion of Avon's Skin So Soft

Vitamin B tablets from Holland and Holland help immensely, plus I always use 'Jungle Spray.' It can be quite greasy and it's also expensive, but I spent a fortnight in Tigaki, Kos, recently, right next to the salt lake where thousands of them live, and I wasn't bitten once when wearing it (I got three bites at breakfast one morning, however, when I wasn't protected, little buggers!)

I've had 'Mosquito Song' by Seun Kuti in my head all evening because of this thread.

Worst I've know was fishing the st Lawrence a few years back in the US. Muggins volunteered to bait up the far bank before we went home each evening. I had to put my good tight over my face, tuck everything in wtf and make a fucking mad dash with a 25l bucket of groats through this forest to get to out spot. It only took 30 seconds or so to run the gauntlet but I got absolutely mullered every time, it was like a feeding frenzy.

It was Impossible to night fish due to the mozzies, this was a different level to anything in Europe - if we left packing up til sundown we used to end up legging it to the car dropping out gear everywhere in attempt to get away

It's the blue bottle version of Avon Skin So Soft that works (as used by Royal Marines in Scotland against the midges, in Afghanistan against the mozzies and by my daughter working in Corfu against the mozzies).

As an ex trawler fisherman I have to agree with the OP.

The greatest mosquito fighting device in the world is the tennis racquet shaped battery powered zappers. Never has such joy been enjoyed in the pursuit of killing an unsuspecting insect*.

Love those things!

Big butch Catalan builders swear by almond oil moisturiser for the mozzies.

I find this a bit odd myself.

Out in Spain at the moment and we're trying everything. They have these things shaped like a catherine wheel that smolder and they seem to work. Bought a Citronella candle an hour ago and got that going now. So far so good but me and one of my daughter's are covered in bites, whereas the missus and other daughter don't get bitten at all.

Only consolation is that the beer's cold and there's a fridge on the patio that's full!

Tried the skin so soft route, I had the green bottle.
Caught fuckall, wrapped up in rain then fish started lumping out over my baited area.
Typical.

Re: Mosquitoes arghhhh...
Trawlermen never complain about mozzies. So try that sort of fishing instead.
